WAGB 83 ICEBREAKER MACKINAW BUILD

This US Coast Guard icebreaker was commissioned in 1944 and served the Great Lakes division until she was decommissioned in 2006. It is now a beautiful museum located in Mackinaw City, Michigan.  I visited the ship many times during my build.

Model dimensions:

Length - 36"

Completion: 1.7 years

Construction:

The Substructure is pine and bass wood covered entirety by styrene. Hull plating is .040" styrene, all other styrene is .010 -.030".

Lighting:

Navigational lighting as well as spar deck lights, bridge.

SS EDMUND FITZGERALD BUILD

Three years ago I built from scratch a 1/96 scale model of

the famous ship "SS Edmund Fitzgerald", which was lost

in November 1975. It has

always been a goal of mine

to build a scale replica of

the Fitzgerald to honor the

sailors who sailed aboard her

and to commemorate this beautiful lake freighter.

Model dimensions:

Length - 94.75"

Width - 9.75"

Height - 14.5"

Completion: 3 years

Construction:

The Substructure is pine and bass wood covered entirety by styrene. Hull plating is .040" styrene, all other styrene is .010 -.030".

Lighting:

Navigational lighting as well as spar deck lights, bridge, officers dining, and guest lounge.

WHITEFISH BAY LIGHTHOUSE

This is a scratch built replica of the lighthouse at Whitefish Point, Michigan and marks the entrance to Whitefish Bay. It was built in1861 and has shined into Lake Superior unfailingly for almost

157 years except for the night when the SS Edmund Fitzgerald went down.

Construction:

The structure is made entirety out of styrene. Base is wood.

Lighting:

Lighting is a pseudo-rotating LED beacon that dims and brightens.

Seats recline and arm rest move up and down. Control pedestals move forward and aft.

This German Pak 38 is a kit from Dragon it is a 1/6 scale model. I built and weathered the kit for added realism.
